Greetings electric racing fans,
Happy New Year! The Electric Imp is the Champion of Sports Car Club of America's Florida Region D Modified class. We think this is a historic first. That this is the first time that an Electric Car has won a formal sanctioned championship that was open to both gas and electric cars.
(Any suggestions on how to check this record would be appreciated.)
We have just posted a write-up of our fifth autocross run (back in June). At this race, we not only won our class but had the 11 fastest run of 110 cars. Enjoy the video.
We have a West Palm Beach road race and the final autocross of the year still to post. These should be going up in the next month or so.
Our next appearance will be Battery Beach Burnout (www.batterybeach.com) January 20-21. This should be a great EV event. Everyone is welcome. A tentative 2006 schedule has also been posted.

ProEV's Kokam Battery powered Electric Imp

Editor’s Note: Thanks to good design and the advanced lithium polymer battery chemistry from Kokam, this 1995 Subaru Impreza 2 Door Coupe weighs just 2800lbs including the driver but produces 270 horsepower and up to 370 ft/lbs of torque. It has regenerative braking, highly linear power, and all the other cool benefits of AC induction drive systems.
Previously, I asked Cliff why the Electric Imp came about. He pointed out that ProEV is operated by a professional ICE race team that views EV racing as a place for new opportunities.
Cliff then added, “One of the big thrills is, that like the early days of racing, the innovations we are developing for the Electric Imp are things that will put better cars on the street.”
We couldn’t agree more! Keep up the good work!
