On December 10th electric drag racer Matt Graham of Hobe Sound, Florida, pulled up to the line at Moroso Motorsports Park and stunned the unsuspecting crowds with a “Joule Injected” reduced-power maiden run of 14.27 seconds @ 95.06 MPH!
The race crowd loved the car and the idea of electric racing. Matt said the guy handing out the slip was most incredulous... "You ran a 14.27 with an ELECTRIC CAR??"
Matt was there to do several shakedown runs in preparation for next month’s Battery Beach Burnout event. Fellow Floridian Shawn Waggoner played a big part in the day's success.
It looks like Matt has a bit of an obsession for data logging… something that might just give him a competitive advantage over other NEDRA racers who tune by the seat of their pants.
Unfortunately, Matt’s laptop distraction cost him a full second on that first run. Do the math and you’ll know this car is easily capable of 13s or better and he’s just getting started! In case you’re wondering about the data, one of his weakest runs showed peaks of 190Hp and 650 ft-lbs of torque!
Thanks for the pictures and good luck next month, Matt!
