(Hartford, Connecticut, USA. 1897-1913) Columbia is an EV company that rode the technology fence while concurrently producing gas cars, some as early as 1899. Electrics were built until 1907, maybe longer. The company's organization evolved quickly and the resultant name changes make it hard to pin down. Other identifies include: Pope Manufacturing Co., Columbia Automobile Co, Columbia & Electric Vehicle Co, Electric Vehicle Co., and Columbia Motor Car Co. Eventually, the Columbia Motor Car Co. was amalgamated into the United States Motor Co in 1910, which went under in 1913.
